Leah participates in the 2023 Virginia Baroque Academy at the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival. In addition to the normal schedule of the masterclasses and ensembles in the workshop, Leah is featured in the role of Gloria in a special project – a performance of Handel’s “little-known jewel,” the Cantata O Come Chiare e Belle. A work of Handel as a young composer of 23 years of age, the piece was performed in 1708 and depicts Rome’s return to glory during the War of Spanish Succession. Closely connected with Handel’s Roman patron, the Marchese Ruspoli, it is full of spirited invention and colorful depictions and imagery of the Tiber River.
